By this year, the market for cloud computing in Asia (excluding Japan) will reach US 1.3 billion, according to IDC estimates. The market size is expected to continue at a rate of about 40% a year until 2014.

Despite the strong signs of market growth, security concerns, data storage regulations, low penetration of bandwidth in some countries and government polices relating to traditional computing models are inhibiting market growth.

"Cloud adoption in the Asia pacific has yet to reach its full potential. The regulatory landscape and varying market maturity levels have fragmented the adoption of cloud computing in the region", noted Asia Cloud computing Association chairman and Reach CIO, Sundi Balu
